An exceptional wine at the price: vibrant, unmistakably Coonawarra to smell and taste, bursting with flavours of blackcurrant, mulberry and herbs, and fine, elegant and juicy in the mouth.
The wine is quite low in oak, with just a smidge of vanillin showing faintly on the mid palate, but otherwise the brambly, blackcurrant flavours demand all the attention.
Fine silky tannins integrate with the fruit and minimal oak treatment to produce an approachable well rounded wine with an extended length.
Majella “The Musician”
2014
This Classic Australian blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and Shiraz was produced by Majella Wines from grapes grown on the Majella vineyard in Coonawarra, South Australia.
Winemaking
The Musician is made as a light and elegant dry red. Fermentation was in both stainless steel tanks and oak barrels then aged for a further six months with minimal oak contact. It was then blended and bottled as a young red to retain freshness.
Winemakers Comments
The colour is vibrant deep ruby red with a crimson hue. The wine itself is
seductive, smooth and fruit driven with luscious plums, boysenberries,
blackcurrant with hints of mint and eucalyptus, supported by soft tannins that give excellent
balance.
